A fulfilling contract opportunity awaits for a dedicated RN near the Chicago Heights area to provide individualized nursing care for a student with complex medical needs attending SPEED. In this full-time role, you’ll play a crucial part in supporting a student who requires compassionate and attentive healthcare throughout the school day. This assignment calls for an experienced and resourceful Registered Nurse who can respond efficiently to medical concerns and prioritize student safety.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • Current and valid RN (Registered Nurse) license
  • Prior experience in a school setting highly desirable
  • Expertise in G-tube care, wheelchair support, and managing seizure disorders
  • Comfort and proficiency supporting non-verbal students
  • Understanding of VP shunt care and ongoing monitoring
  • Strong clinical judgment, organizational skills, and calm demeanor during emergencies
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary education teams, students, and families
  • Reliable, trustworthy, and flexible with scheduling

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct nursing care daily for a student with high medical acuity, including medication administration, feeding via G-tube, seizure monitoring, and attending to mobility needs
  • Monitor the student’s well-being and intervene quickly in medical situations
  • Maintain accurate health documentation and communicate updates with educational and family team members
  • Assist with hygiene, positioning, and inclusion in both classroom and community activities
  • Engage in regular health assessments to promote the student’s comfort and independence
