School-Based Registered Nurse (RN) - Chicago, Illinois

Step into a vital role supporting the health and well-being of students near Chicago, IL as a Certified School Nurse/Registered Nurse for the 2026/2027 academic year. In this contract position, you will serve as the district's sole Certified School Nurse, working alongside a dedicated team of Registered Nurses to enhance students’ readiness to learn.

As the key point of contact for student health services, you’ll perform essential screenings, collaborate on individualized care plans, and ensure best practices in school nursing are upheld. Your expertise will be pivotal in fostering a safe, supportive educational environment.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Active Illinois Professional Educator’s License with Certified School Nurse (CSN) endorsement (required).
• Credentialed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Illinois.
• Experience in conducting hearing and vision screenings.
• Proficiency in updating IEPs and Individual Health Plans.
• Previous experience in a school setting preferred but not mandatory.
• Strong collaboration skills and the ability to be self-motivated as the district’s only CSN.
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct mandated hearing and vision screenings for students.
• Lead the development and regular updating of IEPs and school health plans in coordination with multidisciplinary teams.
• Provide case management services and health education to students, staff, and families.
• Guide and support school RNs, offering resources and nursing leadership.
• Serve as a primary health consultant in the district, ensuring compliance with state guidelines.
• Respond to student health concerns with professionalism and compassion.
