Exciting new opportunity for Registered Nurses who are passionate about providing specialized care to students! A contract position is currently available just north of Durham, offering a unique chance to make a positive impact in a supportive educational setting. This full-time role runs from 8:15 am to 3:15 pm, providing consistent hours within the school day.
In this rewarding position, you will provide 1:1 care for a fifth-grade student who requires g-tube feedings, respiratory monitoring, and daily assistance due to being non-verbal and nearly blind. You will play a crucial role in fostering the student’s well-being, safety, and inclusion for the school year.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Active RN license in good standing
- Experience in school nursing or pediatric settings preferred
- Knowledge of g-tube management, respiratory care, and special needs accommodations
- Ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with students, staff, and families
- Current CPR/BLS certification
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver 1:1 nursing care and ensure the student’s medical needs are met throughout the school day
- Monitor and document respiratory status, administer g-tube feedings, and assist with daily living tasks as needed
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, administration, and the student’s family
- Advocate for the student’s safety and participate in healthcare planning
- Respond promptly to any medical concerns, ensuring a secure environment
