Registered Nurse School Setting in Des Plaines, IL

A contract opportunity is available to support high school students with complex medical needs in a collaborative setting near Des Plaines, IL. This role is particularly well-suited for compassionate RNs with a strong background in crisis response and pediatric care who are ready to work alongside a dedicated nursing team.

You’ll work full-time during the school year, with hours from 7:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. (lunch included), giving you a fulfilling daytime schedule and plenty of interaction with both students and fellow healthcare professionals. The assignment involves supporting a population of medically fragile students—currently six, with a maximum caseload of thirteen—with the benefit of additional nursing staff always on hand.

Qualifications and Preferred Background:

• Current Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Experience working in school health settings is preferred
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution (preferred)
• Strong crisis response and emergency care competency
• Comfortable with complex medical procedures, such as g-tube feedings
• Genuine interest and experience in caring for medically fragile pediatric populations

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct medical care and intervention for students with significant health needs
• Respond swiftly and appropriately to medical emergencies or crises on campus
• Collaborate with other nurses and staff to ensure comprehensive care throughout the school day
• Follow individualized healthcare plans and communicate with families and staff as needed
