Play a vital role in supporting student health and wellness in a dynamic school environment this winter! A dedicated Certified School Nurse is sought for a full-time contract position covering a 12-week maternity leave, with the potential for extension. This assignment begins December 14, 2026, and continues through March 15, 2027. You'll split your expertise between a high school and an elementary school, fostering continuity of care for students of all ages.
You will help create a nurturing, responsive environment in two schools: High School (Monday–Wednesday, 7:00am–2:30pm) and Elementary School (Thursday–Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm). Embrace your vital role at the heart of each building’s health office, ensuring that students remain healthy, safe, and ready to learn.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Certified School Nurse endorsement—required
- Previous experience in school nursing preferred
- Up-to-date knowledge of school-age health issues and emergency care
- Skilled communicator who thrives in multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience working with special education and IEP meetings is a plus
- Ability to confidently manage two school locations with different age groups
- Must submit PEL certification/license and resume with application
Responsibilities Include:
- Providing compassionate care to students in the health office, including first aid, medication administration, and health screenings
- Collaborating in IEP meetings, contributing nursing expertise for students with special needs
- Supporting the physical and emotional well-being of all students
- Maintaining accurate health records and communicating with families and staff as needed
