Step into a vital role supporting the health and well-being of students in a dynamic high school environment this school year! A contract position is open for an experienced Registered Nurse to cover a maternity leave, located in a well-established educational setting in the Wheaton, IL area (zip: 60187). This full-time opportunity runs from October 26, 2026, through January 22, 2027, with the possibility to extend.
In this setting, you'll work closely with students, staff, and a Certified School Nurse, providing skilled care within standard school hours (7:00 am – 2:30 pm).
Qualifications:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois (IL).
- Previous experience as a school nurse required.
- Must provide current certification/license and resume with your application.
- Ability to work the designated school hours; LPNs are not accepted.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver professional nursing services, first aid, emergency care, and illness management to students and staff as per established procedures and nursing standards.
- Administer medications, maintain proper documentation, and ensure secure storage of all medications on campus.
- Collaborate with the Certified School Nurse on wellness programs and campus projects, including managing individual health plans for allergies, asthma, and seizures.
- Support maintenance of medical and immunization records to ensure adherence to state mandates.
- Regularly monitor AED equipment and address maintenance issues promptly.
- Fulfill mandated reporter responsibilities, making assessments and referrals in suspected cases of abuse or neglect.
- Participate in daily health office functions, lending support as needed.
