School Registered Nurse | Des Plaines, Illinois

Discover a rewarding opportunity supporting a preschool student as a dedicated part-time Registered Nurse in a school-based setting. This contract role offers the chance to make a real difference while utilizing your specialized skills and compassion.

The position begins August 18, 2026, and runs through May 28, 2027, with scheduled hours from 12:30 PM to 4:00 PM, Tuesday through Friday. Each day, you’ll meet the student at home, ride the bus to and from school, and provide consistent care throughout the school day. The student you’ll be working with has a G-tube, tracheostomy, and ventilator, requiring your clinical expertise and attention.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Current Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license (required)
• Demonstrated experience with G-tube, tracheostomy, and ventilator care
• Prior critical care experience strongly preferred
• School nursing or pediatric experience is a plus
• Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills
• Reliable and punctual, with ability to work the specified schedule and meet at the student's home
• Must provide up-to-date license/certification and resume with application

Core Responsibilities:

• Deliver 1:1 nursing care to a preschool-aged student as outlined in the care plan
• Accompany and monitor the student during bus transit and while at school
• Administer medical care including G-tube feedings, trach care, and ventilator management
• Respond promptly to student’s health needs and emergencies
• Communicate effectively with school staff and family members
