School-Based Registered Nurse (RN) - Des Plaines, Illinois

Step into an impactful contract role supporting the health and well-being of students in a vibrant middle school setting. As an on-site RN, you’ll contribute to the care of approximately 1,000 students across two schools, with primary responsibilities at the middle school level (grades 6–8) and occasional support at the elementary school.

Position Details:

• Contract runs from January 6, 2027 through June 4, 2027
• Work approximately 32.5 hours per week (8:30 a.m.–3:40 p.m. with a 40-minute unpaid lunch)
• On-site presence is required—remote arrangements are not available

Key Qualifications:

• Current RN license
• Valid CPR and BLS certifications
• Prior experience in school nursing or pediatric nursing strongly preferred
• Ability to respond calmly and effectively in health emergencies
• Excellent communication and organizational skills to coordinate with students, families, and staff
• Dedicated to fostering a safe and supportive school environment

Primary Responsibilities:

• Serve as the primary nurse for Field Middle School, managing the health office and addressing daily student needs
• Provide first aid, medication administration, and chronic condition management
• Maintain accurate records and care documentation
• Support district health protocols and collaborate with faculty to ensure student safety
• Occasionally assist at the elementary school to support broader district health initiatives
