Make a meaningful impact supporting a young student with unique medical needs in a school setting. This rewarding contract opportunity runs from September 3, 2026, through June 24, 2027, with consistent hours (8 am–3 pm, approximately 35 hours per week), allowing you to play a vital role throughout the academic year.
You'll work directly with a 3-year-old student diagnosed with Infantile Neuroaxonal Dystrophy (INAD). Responsibilities include NG-tube care (note: not a G-tube), lifting and transporting a non-ambulatory child weighing approximately 24 pounds, and riding the school bus with the student to ensure continuous care during transportation. Your pediatric expertise will make a significant difference for both the student and their family.
Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted RN license
- Demonstrated pediatric nursing experience (required)
- Strong experience with NG-tube management and care
- Ability to safely lift and transport a non-ambulatory child
- Familiarity with school nursing or comparable settings preferred
- Willingness to provide care during bussing (onsite position only)
- Compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to the assigned student throughout the school day
- Manage NG-tube feedings and medication administration as prescribed
- Support the student’s health and safety during school activities and transport
- Document observations and communicate effectively with school staff and families
- Collaborate with educational and support staff to ensure optimal student wellbeing
