School-Based Registered Nurse (RN) | Edison, New Jersey

Step into a rewarding school-based nursing opportunity supporting students’ health and well-being in a nurturing educational environment. This contract position runs from early September through late June, with full-time hours (Monday through Friday, 32.5 hours per week). With two openings available, you’ll have the chance to serve at either a preschool, elementary, or middle school health room.

Ideal candidates are experienced Registered Nurses who feel confident serving as the sole nurse in a school building. Support from an advisory team is readily available, but independent decision-making and resourcefulness are essential. The district values prior experience using the Genesis charting system, as well as a strong background in school nursing. This environment calls for dependable professionals who thrive in child-focused settings and are comfortable managing student health needs independently.

Desired Qualifications:

• Active New Jersey RN license or Certified School Nurse (CSN) credential (required)
• Solid knowledge of pediatric care and common school nursing protocols
• Prior experience in school nursing, ideally as the only onsite nurse
• Familiarity with Genesis charting system (preferred)
• Excellent communication, organization, and assessment skills
• Adaptability to serve in preschool, elementary, or middle school settings

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver immediate and routine care to students and staff
• Maintain comprehensive health records and documentation
• Communicate with families, educators, and advisory staff regarding health concerns
• Oversee administration of medications and health protocols as needed
• Promote health, hygiene, and wellness initiatives within the school community

Those selected will receive a competitive hourly pay rate between $30-35, along with access to healthcare benefits and weekly pay.
