Key Qualifications:
- Active Illinois RN license required (no LPNs)
- Prior experience working as a nurse within a school setting
- Submission of certification/license and updated resume is required
- Strong assessment, clinical, and organizational skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and families
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver professional nursing care, including first aid, emergency response, and illness assessment to students and staff
- Administer prescribed medications following proper documentation and safety protocols
- Collaborate with the Certified School Nurse on wellness initiatives and health office operations
- Support the development and management of student care plans (e.g., allergy, asthma, seizure action plans)
- Maintain health office hygiene and readiness, including AED monitoring and reporting maintenance needs
- Accurately document medical records to meet state and district requirements, such as immunizations and physicals
- Serve as a mandated reporter, making referrals as necessary for suspected abuse or neglect
