Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity working as a Registered Nurse in a supportive K-12 school setting. Based onsite near Elizabeth, NJ, this full-time role (30-32 hours per week) runs from September 1, 2026, through July 22, 2027. The schedule offers a great work-life balance with weekdays only: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 2:45pm.
Your expertise will directly impact the well-being of students with emotional regulation impairments, providing compassionate healthcare in an educational environment. This position is ideal for nurses with a strong background in pediatric and/or psychiatric care who thrive on building positive relationships with students and staff.
Key Qualifications:
- Active RN license with prior experience in a school, pediatric, or psychiatric setting
- Solid understanding of K-12 student healthcare, particularly those with emotional regulation challenges
- Compassionate communicator with the ability to develop rapport with students, staff, and families
- Skilled in conducting post-restraint evaluations
- Proficient in medication administration and healthcare documentation
Primary Responsibilities:
- Administer prescribed medications to students in accordance with medical protocols and school policy
- Conduct thorough post-restraint evaluations to ensure student safety and monitor outcomes
- Address medical needs of students during school hours, providing first aid when necessary
- Maintain accurate health records and document interventions consistently
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and school leadership to facilitate a supportive environment
- Serve as a healthcare resource for students and staff, fostering a safe and inclusive atmosphere
