Take your nursing expertise to the next level with a rewarding contract opportunity supporting a young student in a school setting near South Amboy, NJ. You’ll play a vital role as a dedicated Registered Nurse for a 3-year-old child diagnosed with Infantile Neuroaxonal Dystrophy (INAD). This onsite position requires a compassionate professional capable of delivering attentive, skilled care to a non-ambulatory, non-verbal student requiring NG-tube feeding (not a G-tube) and the use of assistive equipment, such as a stander and gait-trainer.
Your day will start at 8am and end at 3pm, following the academic calendar from January 4, 2026, through June 24, 2027. With approximately 35 hours per week, you’ll ensure the student’s safety, comfort, and participation throughout the school day—including on bus rides to and from the campus.
What We’re Looking For:
- Current RN license
- Prior pediatric nursing experience required
- School nursing expertise strongly preferred
- Experience with NG-tube management (not G-tube)
- Ability to safely lift and transport a child weighing approximately 24lbs
- Confidence in use of gait-trainers and standers
- Comfortable providing support for a non-verbal, non-ambulatory student
- Ability to perform duties onsite only (no virtual work)
- Reliable, caring, and adaptable
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and address all medical needs and emergencies during school hours and transportation
- Administer NG-tube feedings and medication as prescribed
- Collaborate closely with school staff and parents
- Ensure proper use of mobility equipment and safe student handling
- Document health care activities and update care plans as needed
