School Registered Nurse | Elk River, Minnesota

A rewarding contract opportunity is available for a dedicated RN or LPN/LVN with school nursing experience to provide specialized 1:1 care for a student commuting from Buffalo, MN to Monticello Middle School. This role offers the chance to make a positive, daily impact and work closely with a single student throughout their school day and commute.

Key Qualifications & Skills

• Active RN or LPN/LVN licensure in Minnesota required
• Previous experience in a school nursing or pediatric setting is valued
• Confident, safe proficiency in tube feeding
• Familiarity and skill in oxygen management, including monitoring $O_2$ saturations and administering oxygen when necessary
• Comfortable administering medications as prescribed
• Ability to safely use a Hoyer lift and stander; specific training on the student’s equipment will be provided
• Homecare experience preferred, but not required
• Strong communication and documentation skills

Main Responsibilities

• Accompany the student on the bus from home in Buffalo to Monticello Middle School and back, ensuring consistent care during transportation (commute approx. 20 minutes each way)
• Provide direct nursing care while at school (9:30 AM – 12:30 PM)
• Administer medications, manage medical devices, and assist with daily student needs
• Follow individualized care plans and respond effectively to any health or safety concerns

Schedule

• Monday through Friday, approximately 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM, adhering to the Monticello District academic calendar

Additional Opportunity

• Coverage is also needed for Mondays only to support a high school student in the area with similar 1:1 nursing needs.
