School-Based Registered Nurse (RN) - Fairport, New York

Step into a dynamic school environment as a per diem Registered Nurse, contributing your expertise to shape future nurse aides. In this contract role, you'll support Career and Technical Education (CTE) classes, filling in as needed for RN coverage, particularly when teachers are absent. Your responsibilities will focus on guiding high school students through the clinical components of the Nurse Assisting course. This position features school-friendly hours, from 8 to 10 am and 12 to 2 pm, stretching across the full academic year, with an immediate start date.

Responsibilities include:

• Developing and implementing meaningful clinical experiences for students in the Nurse Assisting program
• Creating and managing the clinical instruction schedule in collaboration with the classroom teacher
• Directly supervising students in clinical settings, maintaining an optimal 8:1 student-to-instructor ratio
• Coordinating with agency personnel regarding clinical placements and requirements
• Assessing and documenting student progress and performance in clinical settings
• Responding to requests from the Nurse Aide Teacher for support or additional duties

To excel in this role, candidates should offer:

• Current New York State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Fulfillment of Civil Service requirements for the School Nurse title
• Recent, hands-on experience in long-term care or nursing home settings
• A passion for mentoring and an ability to connect with high school students pursuing healthcare careers
• Strong organizational and communication skills
