Step into a pivotal role supporting a medically fragile student in a school setting as a contract registered nurse. This position focuses on direct, one-on-one care for a student who requires comprehensive medical support throughout the school day. Key qualifications:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
- Prior experience in school nursing or similar pediatric settings preferred
- Strong skills and confidence in providing care for students with significant medical needs, including feeding tubes and oxygen
- Comfortable performing and managing tracheostomy and gastrostomy care as well as regular catheterizations
- Ability to safely assist with lifting and transferring a wheelchair-bound student
- Compassionate, patient, and adaptable when handling fluctuating hours due to variable student attendance
- Commitment to in-person, onsite attendance; remote or hybrid arrangements are not available
- Willingness to participate in a mandatory face-to-face interview as part of the hiring process
Primary responsibilities:
- Deliver one-on-one nursing services for a student diagnosed with spina bifida, hydrocephalus, and other complex needs
- Monitor and address medical equipment such as head shunts, feeding tubes, and oxygen support
- Perform necessary medical procedures and provide routine personal care in the classroom setting
- Maintain detailed records and communicate effectively with school staff and family members
- Ensure a safe and inclusive environment that promotes learning and wellness
This is a contract position extending until May 22, 2026, offering up to 37.5 hours per week with flexibility as required by the student’s schedule.
