School-Based Registered Nurse (RN) - Gurnee, Illinois

Key Qualifications:

• Active RN license in Illinois, with up-to-date certification.
• Previous experience as a school nurse or in a pediatric clinical setting.
• Confidence managing multiple urgent situations and prioritizing care efficiently.
• Strong understanding of the complexities and unpredictability of school healthcare needs.
• Exceptional communication skills for interacting with students, staff, and families.
• Ability to remain composed under pressure and adhere to school protocols.

Main Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct nursing care to students, addressing injuries, illnesses, and chronic health conditions.
• Respond promptly to medical emergencies, providing triage and collaborating with staff as needed.
• Conduct regular health assessments and screenings.
• Educate students and staff on relevant health topics, including hygiene and wellness.
• Keep thorough, accurate records of treatments, interventions, and medication administration.
• Serve as a liaison between families, healthcare providers, and school personnel.
• Enforce safety, health, and infection control policies.

This position offers a full-time Monday–Friday schedule, with 35 hours per week, running through June 4th. As the sole nurse supporting Lakeview Elementary, your impact will be immediate and meaningful.
