Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Hampton, VA

Make a difference in a student’s life as a dedicated contract LPN working 1:1 with a middle school student from August 24th through June 9th. This assignment is set in a supportive educational environment near Hampton, VA, supporting a student with absence seizures. The role runs weekdays from 7:30am to 3:30pm, with bus riding included to ensure continuous care throughout the day.

Key responsibilities:

• Provide vigilant monitoring for a student with absence seizures, recognizing and responding appropriately to seizure activity
• Administer rescue medication via nasal spray as needed, following prescribed guidelines
• Deliver seizure care with diligence and empathy
• Monitor and record blood pressure and temperature according to care plan
• Escort and support student during bus transportation to and from school
• Communicate effectively with school staff, parents, and healthcare providers regarding student status and any health developments
• Maintain thorough documentation of health observations, interventions, and outcomes

Desired qualifications:

• Active and unencumbered LPN or LVN licensure, with eligibility to practice in Virginia
• Prior pediatric or school nursing experience is highly valued
• Strong understanding of seizure disorders and emergency medication administration
• Confident clinical assessment skills with attention to detail
• Ability to respond quickly and calmly in emergency situations
• Compassionate, patient-centered approach and excellent communication skills
• Comfortable providing direct care in both classroom and bus settings
