A full-time registered nurse position is available in a school setting located in Harvey, LA, offering the opportunity to serve one to two schools within a large public school district. This role requires travel across East and West Bank locations based on district needs, emphasizing flexibility in placement.

Qualified candidates will have prior school nurse experience supporting a diverse student population, including those with tracheostomies, gastrostomy tubes, and diabetes. Strong skills in medical record keeping, Individualized Education Program (IEP) participation, student screenings, and staff training are essential. The position involves managing daily health-related needs, providing training to non-medical staff, and maintaining clear, professional communication with students, parents, and educators.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver nursing care aligned with each student's health plan.
  • Monitor and manage medical equipment and conditions such as tracheostomies and feeding tubes.
  • Conduct health screenings and maintain accurate records.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for students with special needs.
  • Train and delegate medical-related tasks to non-nursing staff.
  • Utilize technology proficiently, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Sheets.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license; BSN preferred but ASN accepted.
  • Previous school nursing experience required.
  • Familiarity with student health issues and related procedures.
  • Ability to pass drug screening and fingerprinting per district requirements.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in technology and software applications related to nursing documentation.

Work Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday, 7 hours daily with a 30-minute unpaid lunch, following the school calendar.
  • Full-time, approximately 35 hours per week.
