As a valued part of the school’s health team, you’ll provide essential care to students and contribute directly to a safe, supportive educational environment.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- Previous experience as a school nurse or in a comparable pediatric/community health setting preferred
- Capability to pass a criminal background check and TB risk assessment within 60 days prior to start
- Ability and willingness to serve as a mandated child abuse reporter, in accordance with California law
- Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills
- Commitment to student safety and confidentiality
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver first aid, manage acute health incidents, and handle chronic health needs during school hours
- Administer prescribed student medications following school policy and best nursing practices
- Support the health office’s daily operations alongside other healthcare professionals and administrative staff
- Conduct state-mandated hearing and vision screenings for required student grade levels, ensuring timely follow-up and accurate recordkeeping
- Liaise with parents, teachers, and external care providers regarding individual student health needs
