Provide compassionate nursing care in an educational setting, supporting a young student during their PM session at an Early Childhood Center. This part-time, contract opportunity focuses on one-on-one care for a child with complex medical needs. Hours encompass the school day (12:05–3:15 PM), with the possibility of including transportation time to and from school.
Your expertise will play a crucial role in this student’s daily safety and well-being. The student experiences epilepsy, global developmental delays, hypotonia (including slow transit constipation and dysphagia requiring thickened liquids), neuromuscular scoliosis, intermittent esotropia, and a genetic variant in CNTNAP2.
Qualifications:
- Current RN license in good standing
- Pediatric or school nursing experience preferred
- Confidence managing complex care needs, including seizure protocols and feeding modifications
- Ability to provide 1:1 care and quickly respond to medical situations
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with teachers, aides, and families
- Solid documentation skills
Responsibilities:
- Monitor the student throughout the PM session and during school transit as needed
- Administer medications and support interventions according to IEP and healthcare plans
- Assist with feeding and observe for swallowing safety, following prescribed thickening protocols
- Quickly identify and respond to changes in health status or seizure activity
- Document all nursing activities and communicate updates to school staff and parents
- Foster a supportive, nurturing environment to encourage the student’s participation and growth
