1:1 1:1 Care School RN in Ithaca, NY

Step into a rewarding opportunity where your clinical skills make an immediate difference in the school community. This contract assignment places you alongside a 1st-grade student requiring dedicated 1:1 nursing support during their school day. Starting as soon as possible and extending through May 20, 2026, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring both safety and access to education.

Work a consistent Monday through Friday schedule from 7:30 am to 2:30/3:00 pm. Once daily responsibilities are completed, you may leave at 2:30 and still receive pay for a full day—plus, enjoy a duty-free lunch break. This caseload focuses on an elementary student who is non-verbal and requires ongoing monitoring of a tracheostomy, as well as suctioning and assistance with activities of daily living, including feeding. You’ll also accompany and supervise during academic classes and electives, supporting their inclusion experience. No aggressive behaviors are associated with this assignment, and providing a calm, caring presence is valued.

Desired Experience & Skills:

• Active RN license in New York; school-based nursing or pediatric experience highly valued
• Demonstrated tracheostomy care expertise, including cleaning, maintenance, and suctioning
• Comfort assisting with ADLs such as feeding and toileting
• Willingness to provide direct supervision throughout the school day including during elective classes
• Strong communication skills; bilingual ability a plus

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and manage trach care, responding promptly to student needs
• Provide feeding and general ADL support as required
• Support student participation in academic and elective activities
• Maintain medical documentation and collaborate with educational staff
