This contract position, located near Jackson, MS, offers the opportunity to work closely with students, families, and school staff, ensuring a safe and nurturing setting where students thrive academically and physically.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Valid RN license in Mississippi (or ability to obtain prior to start)
- Previous experience providing nursing care in a school or pediatric setting strongly preferred
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications
- Strong communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills
- Compassionate, adaptable, and professional demeanor
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, administrators, and families
- Knowledge of state and federal laws related to student health and safety
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct nursing services and first aid to students and staff
- Administer medications, manage chronic conditions, and respond to medical emergencies
- Maintain accurate health records in compliance with school and legal requirements
- Implement individualized health plans and provide education on wellness, disease prevention, and health management
- Act as a liaison between families, healthcare providers, and school personnel
- Promote infection control practices and coordinate immunization compliance
- Participate in health screenings and assessments as needed
