School Registered Nurse (RN) in Jersey City, NJ

Make a meaningful difference by providing one-on-one care in a supportive school environment! A dedicated and compassionate nurse is needed full-time on a contract basis. In this role, you will work onsite near Jersey City, NJ, supporting a medically fragile kindergarten student who uses a wheelchair and requires specialized attention during the school day.

This position offers a stable Monday through Friday schedule, working 35 to 37.5 hours per week, with start and end times ranging from 7:50 am/8:00 am to 3:00 pm. The assignment runs from ASAP through the end of the school year, with a strong likelihood of an extended school year (ESY) position for continued continuity of care.

Responsibilities include:

• Providing direct 1:1 nursing care to a kindergarten student
• Managing g-tube care and medication administration during school hours and bus transport
• Riding the school bus with the student to ensure safety and address health needs
• Maintaining health records and documenting nursing interventions in accordance with school policies
• Communicating effectively with the student’s family, educators, and support staff to coordinate care
• Responding promptly to medical emergencies and utilizing sound clinical judgment

Preferred qualifications:

• Valid RN or LPN/LVN license with relevant credentials for the state
• Prior experience working with pediatric populations or in a school setting
• Proven competency in g-tube care and medication administration
• Strong collaborative and communication skills
• Ability to remain calm in high-pressure or emergency situations
