Step into a rewarding role supporting students' health and well-being in a nearby Kansas City area school. This contract opportunity is for a dedicated LPN, LVN, or RN to provide essential 1:1 care for a student with a tracheostomy. The assignment begins as soon as possible and continues through May 21, 2027, with the possibility of extending into the ESY (Extended School Year) program. You’ll enjoy a consistent weekly schedule, reporting Fridays from approximately 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Active LPN, LVN, or RN license in the state of Kansas
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Prior experience in school nursing or pediatric care preferred
- Comfortable and competent in trach care and respiratory support
- Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate approach to working with children and educational teams
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct, individualized nursing care during school hours for a student with a trach
- Monitor and maintain the student's airway and respiratory needs
- Administer prescribed treatments, medications, and interventions as indicated in the student’s care plan
- Collaborate closely with school staff, parents, and healthcare providers to ensure seamless communication and care transitions
- Maintain detailed and accurate health records
- Support the student's participation in the school day while ensuring safety and comfort
