A dynamic role is available for an experienced Registered Nurse to serve as a floating health room nurse within multiple school sites in Kansas City, MO. This position offers the opportunity to support PreK-12th grade students across various locations, ensuring their health and safety throughout the school day and on field trips. This role requires adaptability, strong clinical skills, and the ability to work independently within school settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide nursing care and health assessments to students across multiple school sites, from PreK through 12th grade.
- Manage and operate school health rooms independently after an initial two-week training period.
- Support student health needs during field trips and throughout the school day.
- Maintain accurate electronic health records and documentation.
- Adjust work schedules weekly based on school site needs, including early starts for high schools and later shifts for elementary schools.
- Communicate effectively with school staff, administration, and parents as necessary.
- Adapt to schedule changes, including last-minute adjustments, ensuring flexibility and responsiveness.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri with a clean license verification.
- Recent pediatric nursing experience, preferably in ICU, Emergency Room, or school health settings.
- Experience working in school nursing or a similar environment.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong computer skills for electronic charting and documentation.
- Ability to quickly adapt to changing schedules and work independently.
- Comfort working with students from PreK through 12th grade.
Location:
- Position based in various schools in Kansas City, Missouri.
- This role requires local flexibility with no travel outside the district.
Work Hours:
- 35-40 hours per week.
- Shifts vary between approximately 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM, depending on school schedules.
