Make a difference in the lives of students by joining a dedicated team supporting the ESY program as a school nurse. This contract position runs from May 18 through June 30, with the potential to extend into the next school year if the placement is mutually successful. The assignment location may vary and could be in any public or private school throughout the district, providing nursing care and health oversight for children ranging from age 3 to 18.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State required
- Previous experience as a school RN or LPN/LVN in a school setting strongly preferred
- Understanding of New York State’s health requirements for children in schools
- Comfortable providing care and services to a diverse pediatric population, including students with special needs
- Able to work independently, respond to emergencies, and communicate effectively with school staff, students, and families
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct nursing services, including medication administration and routine healthcare procedures
- Perform state-mandated health screenings, immunization reviews, and recordkeeping
- Respond promptly to student health concerns and medical emergencies
- Maintain accurate health records and ensure confidentiality
- Serve as a resource for health education and guidance for students and staff
- Support safe and healthy school environments through daily health assessments
