We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate RN or LPN/LVN for a contract position covering the Extended School Year (ESY) session. This opportunity runs from May 18th through June 30th, with the possibility of continuing into the New School Year (NSY) if it’s a great match.
In this role, you’ll be providing hands-on, onsite nursing care to students aged 3–18, ensuring their well-being while they learn and grow. Flexibility is key, as you may be assigned to any public or private school within the district.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current Registered Nurse license in the State of New York required
- Experience in school nursing, pediatric care, or working with children in a similar setting strongly preferred
- In-depth knowledge of State Health requirements for school-aged youth
- Comfortable performing screenings (hearing, vision, etc.), tests, and immunization/reporting requirements
- Ability to work independently and respond confidently to issues as they arise in a school setting
- Strong communication skills with students, parents, and school staff
Responsibilities:
- Deliver routine and emergency nursing care to students across a range of ages and abilities
- Perform health screenings and document findings in accordance with district and state guidelines
- Oversee medication administration and manage care for students with chronic conditions
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and parents to support students’ health needs
- Assist with documentation and required reporting for student health records and compliance
