School Registered Nurse | Lenexa, Kansas

Make a significant impact in a school setting by providing dedicated care as a 1:1 School Nurse for a student with a tracheostomy. This contract opportunity is perfect for licensed LPNs or RNs who thrive in a collaborative educational environment and are passionate about supporting individual student needs. The position is scheduled to start as soon as possible and runs through May 21, 2027, with potential for extended school year coverage. Work Fridays from approximately 7:30 am to 1:00 pm, supporting a single student and playing a crucial role in their academic and health success.

Desired Skills and Experience:

• Valid RN or LPN/LVN license in Kansas
• Previous experience in a school, pediatrics, or similar setting preferred
• Comfortable and competent with tracheostomy care; prior experience required
• Strength in building rapport with students, families, and school teams
• Excellent documentation, communication, and assessment abilities
• Flexibility and reliability; able to commit to part-time, weekly schedule
• CPR and First Aid certifications (current)

Responsibilities:

• Deliver vigilant 1:1 care for a student with a trach during school hours
• Monitor health status, administer treatments, and respond to medical needs
• Collaborate with school staff, parents, and external healthcare providers
• Maintain accurate health records and follow individualized health plans
• Uphold infection control, safety standards, and confidentiality at all times
• Participate in care team meetings if needed
• Support student inclusion in classroom activities as appropriate
