Registered Nurse School Setting - Littleton, CO

A dedicated registered nurse is sought to provide specialized care for a 1st-grade student in an elementary school setting located in Littleton, CO. This contract position requires expertise in school nursing and hands-on experience managing complex medical needs within an educational environment. The assignment spans the current school year, with potential renewal for extended school years based on performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform suctioning primarily in the mouth as needed, with rare tracheostomy suctioning under specific conditions.
• Manage the student's positioning, ensuring a change in posture every two hours using various equipment, including power chairs.
• Provide frequent diaper changes, approximately four times daily.
• Administer tube feeding for breakfast and lunch, with each feeding session lasting about one hour, while supporting the student's engagement in other activities.
• Conduct hydration through bolus water administration approximately five times during school hours using a syringe, adaptable to the student's position.
• Collaborate with educational and medical staff to maintain consistent care and support the student’s health needs throughout the school day.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Active and current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Experience in school nursing, preferably with pediatric patients.
• Comfort with performing specialized medical procedures, including suctioning and tube feeding.
• Ability to work independently and adapt to the school environment and the student’s individualized care plan.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to coordinate care with educators and family members.

Location:

• Elementary School in Littleton, Colorado.

Hours and Duration:

• Part-time position, approximately 30 hours per week.
