Embark on a highly rewarding contract opportunity as a school nurse, providing essential 1:1 care to a medically fragile student. This position is based onsite, working with a student who has complex medical needs, including spina bifida, hydrocephalus, and mobility challenges requiring wheelchair support. Your expertise as a Registered Nurse will make a vital difference in their daily school experience.
Contract runs from ASAP through May 22, 2026, with up to 37.5 hours per week (hours may vary due to student attendance). Hands-on clinical skills are critical, as you’ll manage respiratory support, a feeding tube, and intermittent catheterization (every three hours), as well as provide lifting assistance and vigilant monitoring for emergent concerns.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Georgia RN license required
- Previous school nursing or pediatric experience beneficial
- Skilled with G-tube feedings, oxygen administration, and catheter care
- Adept at lifting and positioning a wheelchair-bound student
- Comfort working independently and responding to medical needs swiftly and compassionately
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct, individualized care to a medically fragile student throughout the school day
- Perform and document complex medical procedures such as catheterizations and tube feedings
- Communicate effectively with educational staff, therapists, and family members
- Monitor for changes in condition and respond to emergencies with professionalism
- Ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment at all times
