A rewarding opportunity awaits a skilled and compassionate RN or LPN/LVN to provide 1:1 private duty nursing support for a student commuting from Buffalo, MN to Monticello Middle School. This contract position offers a fulfilling blend of school-based nursing and direct impact on a student’s daily life.
Work Schedule & Setting:
- Monday–Friday, approximately 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM, following the Monticello District calendar
- In-school hours: 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM
- Commute: Ride the bus with the student both to and from school (20 minutes each way)
- Additional coverage needed for Mondays only with a high school student in a similar arrangement
Key Qualifications:
- Valid RN or LPN/LVN license
- School nursing or previous pediatric experience highly valued
- Strong proficiency with tube feeding and medication administration
- Capable of monitoring oxygen saturations; able to apply oxygen as indicated
- Confidence and skill in using a Hoyer lift and stander (training provided for unique student equipment)
- Homecare work is a plus, but not mandatory
- Ability to develop rapport with students and collaborate with school staff
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide attentive, compassionate care and ensure safety during school and transit
- Monitor respiratory status, manage oxygen, and respond promptly to student needs
- Administer medications and tube feedings according to care plan
- Support student’s mobility needs, including safe transfers and proper equipment use
- Maintain clear, timely communication with family and school personnel
