Seeking dedicated part-time professionals with a background in school nursing to provide essential health services within a supportive educational setting from August 2026 through June 2027. This contract role plays a pivotal part in ensuring school safety and wellness by delivering hands-on nursing care to students.
Key Qualifications:
- Active RN license required, with prior experience in school nursing or pediatric settings strongly preferred
- Proficient in administering medications and handling student health needs in compliance with state and school protocols
- Ability to perform state-mandated hearing and vision screenings for students at key grade levels
- Comfortable working collaboratively with students, families, and staff in a fast-moving environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must complete a criminal background check and TB risk assessment within 60 days prior to the assignment
- Willingness to serve as a mandated reporter of child abuse, in accordance with California law
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care to students in the health office, addressing injuries, illnesses, and ongoing medical requirements
- Administer daily and emergency medications as prescribed, following all legal and district requirements
- Conduct hearing and vision screenings as mandated by the state for eligible student groups
- Maintain accurate and confidential health records to support compliance and high care standards
- Communicate health findings and concerns with parents and school staff as needed
- Promote student wellness and support a safe, healthy learning environment
