A contract position is available for an experienced Registered Nurse to support a high school population near Naperville, IL. This opportunity covers a maternity leave from October 26, 2026, through January 22, 2027, with the potential for extension. Working standard school hours from 7:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., the role offers the chance to make a significant impact on student health and wellness in an educational setting.
Key Qualifications:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois is required (no LPNs accepted)
- Previous school nursing experience, specifically with high school students, is essential
- Ability to commit to full-time school hours for the duration of the assignment
- Submission of a valid RN license/certification and comprehensive resume is mandatory
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct nursing care, first aid, and emergency response in accordance with professional standards, board policy, and state guidelines
- Administer and document medications, ensuring secure storage and compliance with protocols
- Aid the Certified School Nurse with wellness programming and district health initiatives, such as securing allergy, asthma, or seizure action plans
- Work collaboratively to maintain the health office environment and support the health aide as needed
- Perform regular AED checks and report any maintenance issues to the designated health service staff
- Maintain accurate health records to meet state requirements related to immunizations, physicals, and chronic conditions
- Act as a mandated reporter, making appropriate assessments and referrals for suspected abuse or neglect
