Desired Skills and Experience:
- Current RN license valid in Connecticut
- Prior experience in a school setting, or interest in pediatric or community nursing
- Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication with students, staff, and families
- Familiarity with managing chronic and acute health conditions
- Ability to maintain accurate and confidential health records
- CPR/BLS certification required
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct nursing care for illnesses, injuries, and chronic health conditions to students throughout the school day
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, following specific care plans
- Conduct health screenings and immunization record reviews
- Respond to emergency situations and coordinate care with local healthcare providers as needed
- Participate in the development and implementation of individualized health plans (IEPs/504s)
- Educate students and staff on health topics, prevention, and safety measures
- Maintain proper documentation in compliance with school district and state guidelines
