School Registered Nurse | Newark, New Jersey

A dedicated opportunity is available for a nurse seeking a full-time contract role in a school environment near Newark, NJ. This position provides essential care to a medically fragile kindergarten student requiring 1:1 nursing support throughout the school day. As the primary caregiver, you will play a pivotal role in the student’s daily well-being and educational experience.

Key Qualifications:

• Current licensure as RN or LPN/LVN
• School nursing experience (preferred)
• Proficiency in g-tube care and medication administration
• Experience working with wheelchair-bound or medically fragile children
• Strong communication and compassion when working with young children and school staff
• Valid CPR certification
• Ability and willingness to ride the bus with the student to and from school

Essential Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct care to a medically fragile kindergarten student during school hours
• Administer medications, monitor g-tube, and respond to medical needs promptly
• Assist the student with transfers, mobility, and routine classroom activities as needed
• Ride the bus with the student to ensure safety and provide support during transportation
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other school professionals to support the student’s educational and health plan
• Document all care interactions in compliance with school and health guidelines

Position Details:

• Full-time schedule: 35-37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday (7:50am/8am–3pm)
• Onsite role, starting ASAP and extending through the end of the school year
• Potential for assignment to the Extended School Year (ESY) program
