Registered Nurse School Setting - Newport News, VA

Key Qualifications:

• Current, active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN) or Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
• Prior experience in school-based nursing or pediatric care preferred
• Demonstrated expertise with tracheostomy and ventilator support
• Able to operate independently apart from the main campus nurse
• Commitment to maintaining student dignity, privacy, and well-being
• Strong communication skills for collaborating with school staff and families

Primary Responsibilities:

• Providing 1:1 nursing care for a high school student throughout the school day
• Monitoring and managing trach and vent care per healthcare plan
• Riding the bus to and from school to ensure safe transit and immediate health support
• Communicating changes in health status and collaborating on care adjustments
• Following district protocols and documenting interventions accurately
• Responding rapidly and calmly to emergencies or changes in student condition
