This unique position focuses on 1:1 care for a student with a seizure disorder, offering vital support during school transportation. You’ll work split shifts, accompanying the student on their daily bus rides, providing attentive monitoring and reassurance—even though seizures are rare, your presence brings peace of mind.

Key Details:

  • Transportation nurse for a single student (RN required for this assignment)
  • Focus on monitoring for seizure symptoms; student has infrequent episodes
  • Monday through Friday schedule
  • Split shifts: 6:45–8:45 AM & 12:45–3:45 PM
  • Bus riding only, providing care while in transit
  • Hourly pay between $37–$40 for RNs

Desired Experience & Skills:

  • Active RN license in New York State (LPN/LVN may be considered for substitute roles)
  • School health or pediatric nursing experience preferred
  • Ability to maintain composure in emergency situations and follow care plans
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate with school staff, parents, and transportation personnel
  • Compassion, reliability, and a student-centered approach

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and support student during transit to and from school
  • Recognize early signs or symptoms related to seizure disorder
  • Administer emergency care following individualized health care plans if necessary
  • Document health observations and any interventions
  • Communicate updates to school nursing staff and parents as needed
