This full-time Registered Nurse position is available at a middle school in Oxford, NC, offering an exciting opportunity to provide specialized school nursing care for students. The role focuses on supporting a caseload of 1-2 middle school students requiring advanced medical attention, including tracheostomy care. The contract is set for the current school year, running through June 9, 2026, with a Monday to Friday schedule totaling 37.5 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care and health evaluations for students with complex medical needs, particularly those with tracheostomies
- Develop and implement individual health plans or plans of care tailored to student needs
- Supervise and coordinate care in collaboration with parents and medical staff to ensure student safety and well-being
- Monitor and document student health status, conduct assessments, and update care plans as necessary
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required; Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) are not eligible
- Proven experience in school nursing or pediatric nursing, with specialization or training in tracheostomy care highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of student health assessments, individualized health plans, and care supervision
- Excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to work in a fast-paced school environment and manage caseload independently
