School-Based Registered Nurse (RN) - Plainfield, New Jersey

Key Qualifications:

• Current RN license with clear standing
• Demonstrated pediatric nursing experience (required)
• Background in school nursing preferred
• Experience working with students requiring complex medical care, especially with NG-tubes
• Able to lift and safely transport a non-ambulatory student (approximately 24 lbs)
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities
• Commitment to student safety and comfort during bus transportation and throughout the school day

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct 1:1 nursing care to a 3-year-old student diagnosed with Infantile Neuroaxonal Dystrophy (INAD)
• Manage all NG-tube care (no G-tube interventions required)
• Assist with lifting, transferring, and transport between locations, ensuring mobility and safety
• Ride the school bus with the student each day, providing vigilant care and support
• Maintain clear documentation and collaborate closely with school staff, therapists, and family
• Respond swiftly to health concerns and emergencies as they arise
• Foster a nurturing, supportive atmosphere allowing for the student’s participation in school activities within their capabilities

This full-time contract runs from September through June, offering approximately 35 hours per week (8am–3pm, Monday to Friday) in a single onsite school location.
