Step into a rewarding contract position as a School Registered Nurse, working onsite with a dedicated focus on a young student navigating Infantile Neuroaxonal Dystrophy (INAD). In this engaging assignment, you'll support a non-ambulatory, non-verbal child who requires specialized care, including NG-tube management and daily transportation needs. Your role will be essential in fostering a nurturing, safe environment where this student can thrive academically and personally.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Previous pediatric nursing experience is absolutely required
- Demonstrated expertise in school nursing or related settings highly preferred
- Experience with NG-tubes; comfortable with complex medical devices (note: this student uses an NG-tube, not a G-tube)
- Confidence in lifting and transferring small children (student is approximately 24 lbs)
- Willingness to supervise and assist during bussing; ability to accompany student as needed
- Compassion, patience, and clear communication skills
Responsibilities:
- Deliver daily, individualized nursing care to one student from 8am – 3pm, Monday through Friday (approximately 35 hours weekly)
- Safely manage NG-tube feeds and monitor for any changes in health status
- Provide all aspects of physical support, including using a stander and gait-trainer, and facilitating transportation
- Collaborate closely with school staff, therapists, and the student’s family to coordinate care plans
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation of nursing activities and students’ health status
