A rewarding opportunity awaits for a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse interested in supporting a student-centered environment. This contract position provides direct one-on-one care to a 20-year-old male student, ensuring his health and safety throughout the school year and summer program. The student is non-verbal, utilizes a wheelchair, and requires attentive medical supervision, including management of frequent seizures and assistance with physical lifting for toileting needs.

Schedule & Structure:

  • Year-round role with a start date of July 6th
  • Standard schedule: 8:30 AM – 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday
  • Early releases: Fridays (summer) at 1:30 PM, Wednesdays (school year)
  • Two options:
    • Preferred: Ride the bus with the student to and from school
    • Alternate: Provide nursing care during school hours if local to Saco area

Qualifications:

  • Active RN license
  • Previous experience in a school, pediatric, or related medical setting
  • Proficiency in seizure management and routine medical care
  • Safe patient handling skills, including physical lifting
  • Commitment to fostering a nurturing, inclusive, and safe school environment
  • Reliable, punctual, and adaptable to dynamic student needs

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct medical care to the assigned student
  • Administer seizure protocol and monitor for emergent needs
  • Assist with wheelchair transfers and toileting
  • Monitor and document medical status, communicating updates to care teams
  • Collaborate with school staff and transportation as needed
  • Maintain confidentiality and professional standards at all times
