School-Based Registered Nurse (RN) | Portage, Indiana

Step into a rewarding school nursing role supporting a close-knit student population of about 100 as a General School Nurse. This contract position covers a maternity leave and is perfect for an experienced or motivated RN who values making a direct impact in a school environment.

You’ll work full-time, Monday through Friday, from 7:35 am to 3:20 pm, beginning in December or January. The role is based in a specialized educational setting designed to foster wellness and learning for every student.

Qualifications:

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
• Previous experience as a school nurse or in pediatric/child health settings preferred
• Ability to respond quickly and effectively in emergency and routine situations
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Compassionate, patient-centered approach

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver general and emergency nursing care to students and staff
• Manage health records and medication administration in compliance with school and state regulations
• Assess and respond to daily health needs, including chronic and acute conditions
• Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to create a safe and healthy learning environment
• Develop and implement care plans for students as needed
• Educate students and staff on wellness, hygiene, and disease prevention
