Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting student health and well-being as a dedicated 1:1 Registered Nurse for the 2026/2027 school year. This role offers the chance to make a genuine impact from mid-to-late August through June 11th, providing individualized care for a student with specific medical needs near Salem, CT. Prior to the school year, you’ll have two or three in-home sessions to become familiar with the student and their care requirements.
Key Qualifications:
- Current, valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state
- Prior experience in school nursing, pediatrics, or similar settings preferred
- Skilled in respiratory care, including suctioning procedures
- Comfortable monitoring for seizure activity and administering medications as needed
- Experience with custodial care, personal hygiene, and using adaptive equipment such as a hoyer lift
- Compassionate, patient, and able to collaborate effectively with paraprofessional support and school staff
- Exceptional communication and documentation skills
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver vigilant, compassionate 1:1 care to a student with respiratory and seizure concerns
- Provide routine suctioning and promptly respond to medical needs
- Administer medications per physician orders and maintain accurate health records
- Partner with paraprofessionals for custodial care and safe student transfers using adaptive equipment
- Build trusting relationships with the student, family, and educational team
- Participate in care meetings and offer health guidance as a valued resource
