Step into a meaningful role for the 26/27 school year supporting student health and well-being! A well-organized school district near San Mateo, CA is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) on a contract basis. This position is essential in helping students thrive—especially those with health concerns such as diabetes—and ensuring seamless, high-quality nursing care across multiple elementary campuses.
As part of a collaborative team, you’ll work closely with two experienced LVNs and rotate through several elementary school sites, providing direct care, assisting with medical needs, responding to incidents, and keeping detailed reports. Your days will be structured, running from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday. The role begins at the end of August or start of September and is projected through December, with a strong chance of extending to the end of the school year in May.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
- Previous experience as a school nurse or in pediatric healthcare (preferred)
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and adapt to diverse student needs
- Must have reliable transportation and valid driver’s license (mileage reimbursed according to IRS standards)
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver daily nursing care to students and assist LVNs as needed
- Conduct visits across multiple elementary school sites within the district
- Complete and maintain accurate student incident and health reports
- Provide specialized care for diabetic students and others with medical conditions
- Foster a supportive, safe, and healthy school environment
