Registered Nurse School Setting in Shawnee, KS

Make a difference in a student’s life by providing compassionate, dedicated nursing care in a supportive educational environment. This contract opportunity is for a skilled LPN or RN to deliver 1:1 nursing services for a student with a tracheostomy. The role runs ASAP through late May 2027, with the potential for Extended School Year (ESY) assignments. Hours are Fridays from approximately 7:30 to 1pm, creating an excellent opportunity for those seeking a flexible schedule or to supplement their current position.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Current licensure as an LPN, LVN, or RN in Kansas
• Previous experience in a school setting preferred, but not required
• Competence in tracheostomy care, suctioning, and emergency response
• Ability to work independently, exercise sound clinical judgment, and build rapport with students and staff
• Strong communication skills and adaptability in a school environment
• CPR and First Aid certification required

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct nursing care and supervision throughout the school day for a student with a trach
• Monitor health status and provide interventions as needed
• Administer prescribed medication and treatments
• Develop and implement individual health care plans in collaboration with school staff and the student’s care team
• Respond promptly and effectively to any medical emergencies
• Maintain accurate health records and documentation
• Support the student’s participation in classroom and school activities as feasible
