Located in Shiprock, NM, this opportunity offers a contract position supporting K-12 schools as a Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in school nursing. The role spans multiple schools within the district and plays a vital part in maintaining the health and well-being of students and staff during the academic year.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing first aid and basic healthcare to students and staff
  • Administering prescribed medications and treatments according to orders
  • Supporting students managing chronic health conditions such as diabetes, asthma, and epilepsy
  • Documenting health office visits, medication logs, and immunization records accurately
  • Assisting with student health screenings and supporting Individualized Education Plans (IEP) and 504 plans
  • Responding calmly and effectively to health emergencies
  • Collaborating with school personnel, parents, and healthcare providers to coordinate care

This position requires travel between 2 to 3 school locations onsite, providing comprehensive nursing services across the schools.

Qualifications and skills desired:

  • Current CPR/AED certification is mandatory
  • Valid RN licensure with experience in school nursing preferred
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Experience working directly with children in a school or similar setting is highly valued
  • Ability to pass a background check and fingerprint clearance
  • Preferred bilingual proficiency in English and Navajo (Diné)
  • Familiarity with IEP processes, individualized student care plans, and knowledge of school health regulations including FERPA compliance

This role typically involves a 37.5-hour workweek during the school year, with an anticipated assignment through May 29, 2026.
