Seeking a skilled nurse for a part-time contract opportunity supporting a vibrant, ambulatory 3-year-old student with a tracheostomy who occasionally requires a ventilator during illness. This role revolves around providing dedicated care during van transport to and from Blocks Pre-School, ensuring the student’s health needs are met in a safe and nurturing environment.
This position is open to RNs and LPNs with an active Massachusetts license and relevant school-based experience. Please note that CNAs and medical assistants are not eligible for this assignment.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid MA RN or LPN license required
- Prior school-based nursing experience essential
- Ability to complete required CORI and fingerprinting clearance
- Strong pediatric skills; confident in managing tracheostomy and emergency protocols
- Comfortable working independently with young children in a dynamic setting
- Availability to work onsite, Mondays and Fridays, for van rides before and after school
- Open to both RNs and LPNs (not open to CNAs or medical assistants)
- Enthusiastic and energetic approach, with a focus on student safety and advocacy
Role Responsibilities:
- Accompany the student on a van before and after school, maintaining vigilant, compassionate care
- Monitor respiratory status, tracheostomy, and ventilator (if needed), and provide hands-on nursing support throughout commutes
- Collaborate with school staff and family for seamless communication
- Participate in Zoom interview as part of the hiring process
- Optional summer work available; contract extends through June 30, 2026, with opportunities for renewal in the following school year
