A contract nursing opportunity is available for the 2026-2027 school year, providing 1:1 support for a student with vent and trach dependencies. This hands-on assignment involves accompanying the student on the school bus each day and ensuring safety, comfort, and well-being both during transport and throughout the school day.
Preferred candidates will blend strong clinical abilities with a nurturing approach. Ideal applicants have pediatric experience with ventilator and tracheostomy management, and are comfortable working with students in both school and home environments.
Desired Qualifications:
- Active RN or LPN license in good standing
- Prior experience working with pediatric patients requiring vent and trach care
- Familiarity with school nursing protocols and individualized care plans
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with families, educators, and healthcare teams
- Ability to handle bus transport responsibilities and adapt to dynamic, child-centered schedules
- Dependability, compassion, and the ability to work autonomously
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver 1:1 nursing care for a student during the school year, including ventilator and tracheostomy management
- Arrive at the student's residence by 8:00 a.m. to ride the bus to school; accompany student home after the school day concludes (approximate return at 4:00 p.m.)
- Closely monitor the student’s health throughout the day and respond to medical needs promptly
- Maintain clear, thorough documentation and report changes or concerns to the appropriate school and healthcare personnel
- Foster a safe, supportive learning environment by integrating care with educational activities
