School Registered Nurse | Syracuse, New York

Make a meaningful difference this summer as a Registered Nurse supporting a spirited kindergarten student in a special education environment. This contract opportunity runs from July 6 to August 14, Monday through Friday, 8:15 AM to 11:30 AM, with the potential to continue into the school year (September 8 through June 24, Monday through Friday, 9:15 AM to 3:45 PM) if the fit is right. You’ll play a vital role as a 1:1 nurse, providing compassionate care and diabetes management for one child, while becoming an essential part of her learning journey.

What we’re looking for:

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State
• Prior pediatric, school nursing, or diabetes care experience highly valued
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to follow medical plans and respond calmly in emergencies
• Strong sense of responsibility, safety awareness, and compassion for young learners

Key responsibilities:

• Deliver 1:1 nursing care for a kindergarten student with diabetes throughout the program hours
• Monitor glucose levels, administer insulin, and document care as required
• Collaborate with special education staff, teachers, and parents to support the student's educational and health needs
• Respond promptly to any health concerns or medical emergencies
• Provide emotional support and health education suitable for early childhood

This role offers between $40 and $50 per hour, and is ideal for nurses seeking a rewarding assignment with regular weekday hours, limited summer commitment, and the possibility of a school-year extension.
