Embark on a meaningful contract assignment providing 1:1 nursing support to a first-grade student in a welcoming elementary school setting near Syracuse, NY. In this role, you'll offer attentive care for a non-verbal student who requires dedicated support throughout the school day, making a significant difference in their educational experience.
Your responsibilities will center on individualized nursing care, including trach monitoring and cleaning, suctioning, assistance with feeding, and support with daily living activities. The student participates in general education electives, and you’ll accompany and supervise during these times to ensure safety and success. Collaboration with educational staff will round out your duties, helping the student access academic and social opportunities.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- RN license valid in New York State
- Experience with trach care, suctioning, and feeding support
- Familiarity with the needs of non-verbal or medically complex pediatric students
- Ability to manage ADLs and ensure a secure, nurturing environment
- Comfortable providing supervision during class transitions and electives
- Positive, collaborative communication style
- Bilingual skills are highly valued
What to Expect:
- Monday through Friday schedule, 7:30 am to 2:30/3:00 pm; enjoy a duty-free lunch each day
- Early departures possible at 2:30 pm if all responsibilities are completed, while still being compensated for a full day
- Elementary school caseload with a sole focus on one student—no behavioral concerns involved
