1:1 1:1 Care Registered Nurse School Setting in Syracuse, NY

Experience the rewarding impact of supporting an elementary student as a Registered Nurse in a school-based, 1:1 care setting. This contract position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a young child's academic and personal growth while working alongside caring educators and staff. Enjoy a consistent Monday through Friday schedule from 7:30 am to 2:30/3:00 pm—with the flexibility to leave early if your duties are complete, all while receiving full-day pay. The assignment is set to begin at a future, to-be-determined date through May 20, 2026.

You’ll provide care for a non-verbal 1st grade student with a tracheostomy, supporting their individual needs throughout the school day—both inside and outside the classroom as they participate in electives. There are no aggressive behaviors associated with this caseload. Your skills will help ensure a safe, inclusive, and engaging school experience.

Qualifications:

• Valid RN license
• Experience with pediatric tracheostomy monitoring, cleaning, and suctioning
• Comfort assisting with ADLs, particularly feeding
• Background providing 1:1 care in any setting encouraged
• Ability to deliver supportive supervision in academic environments
• Bilingual abilities are highly valued
• Commitment to professionalism and compassionate care

Responsibilities:

• Monitor and maintain tracheostomy site, including suctioning as needed
• Assist with activities of daily living, including feeding
• Accompany and supervise student during electives and class transitions
• Facilitate a positive, safe environment that promotes learning and independence
• Collaborate with educational team and follow care plans
• Maintain detailed records of care provided
